PONYO
ENGLISH REVIEW
I highly recommend watching this with your significant other you will laugh and giggle and enjoy the very colourful and nice animation style, which above water looks like it was done with coloured pencil which shows the childishness of it in parts. With its beautiful musical score that at the same time makes you want to eat fish and go to the aquarium.
The synopsis to this lovely innocent love story is basically: Ponyo is a kid that befriends a goldfish princess that wants to be human and does in the sweetest adventure you will ever see, even though at parts that make you hold your breath and stay away from the sea at times as well as show how we are polluting our oceans. A kind of funny part of the movie is that the king of the sea needs to spray land with seawater in order to be on land that was a nice touch.
There is some very funny moments in this movie that you will enjoy immensely especially the driving scenes and the matronly grandmas that live through this young boys life and the mum who is integral to the plot and my favourite character oh and a final note the king is played by Liam Neilson, I would watch it again its on Netflix you know.
SPANISH REVIEW
No soy fan de Studio Ghibli, no porque no me gusten, sino porque nunca me he animado a ver otra película que no sea Mi Vecino Totoro. Pero estoy sumamente contenta de haber visto esta película.
La verdad en un principio no pude evitar compararla con La Sirenita, porque... Bueno, princesa marina pelirroja, le gusta un humano y se quiere ir con el, tiene un montón de hermanas, su madre está ausente (aunque la de Ponyo no está muerta) y un padre sobreprotector. Sin embargo, entre ambas películas Ponyo le gana sin duda (en mi opinión). Para empezar porque Ponyo es adorable, empatica, intuitiva, inteligente, y solo tiene 5 años (lo cual hace que le pueda perdonar cuándo es molesta, emocional y no escucha a su padre).
Nota: El padre de Ponyo es el mejor personaje de toda la puta película, tiene buenas intenciones y no quiere que su hija se lastime pero no tiene ni idea de cómo ser papá ¡Y me encanta! Lo sigue de cerca la mamá de Sosuke que es la mejor mamá del mundo.
Subnota: adoro como la película trata dinámicas familiares complicadas de manera sutil y efectiva.
